About

Founded on the premise that we all need more hands on opportunities to create, build, and discover, MakeitSpace Santa Barbara was created. The Make it Space is a non-profit 501(c)3 makerspace where children, families, and individuals can come together to create, build, and learn with a community of like-minded people.

Since learning of the Maker movement many years ago, Sashi and Jennifer Ono have been working to create a family friendly, non-profit space for making to the Santa Barbara area. The Make it Space is a safe place where people can connect, and unleash their creativity and craftiness.

Sashi Ono graduated from UCSB with a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering. He has been in the engineering field for over 20 years. He owns Pure Engineering, an embedded software and hardware company Pure Engineering.

Jennifer Ono graduated from UCSB with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Studies. She has worked as a Development Executive in the Santa Barbara non-profit community for over 20 years at organizations such as Santa Barbara County’s United Way, Santa Barbara Courthouse Legacy Foundation, Santa Barbara Diabetes Research Institute, State Street Ballet, and most recently as the Campaign Director for Ice in Paradise/Greater Santa Barbara Ice Skating Association.

Jennifer and Sashi both share a passion for art, creativity, engineering, and collaborative learning and are excited to bring the Santa Barbara Make it Space to our community.
